I was born in New York City at the tail end of the 1960's, first got turned on to music in the 70's and came of age during the 80's. So I feel like I got the benefit of being exposed to some very important eras in the development of popular music as we know it today in one of the most diverse cities on the planet. In addition to this, at the age of 10 I moved to the island of Puerto Rico, which further exposed me to another language and culture. I believe that it was this combination of time and place(s) that shaped me both as a person and as a musician. There are few musical styles that don't hold at least some interest for me and I have tried to reflect my diverse musical interests in my work.

It is those same diverse interests that led me to begin exploring the world of composing for film and other multimedia projects in the first place. I started out as a rock n roll guitar player and that remains one of my great passions. I then began to dabble in other styles of music, some more seriously than others, but always with great enthusiasm. When I wasn't playing guitar and later bass, I was sitting around watching movies or T.V. and it was during the course of watching a movie or show that had a very diverse sounding musical score that I realized what a great outlet it could be for me.

Composing not only allows me to explore a variety of musical styles, sometimes several in the course of one project, but I also find myself very interested in how much of an impact music can have on a project that originated in another medium. There is no doubt that music has a huge effect on the mood and feel of a film or program. But it can also add excitement and interest to an otherwise boring training video, or create just the right mood to make the listener of a radio ad want to buy, buy, buy! And the many hours I've spent playing XBox between projects have certainly impressed upon me the importance that music plays in creating a world in which the player can become completely immersed and forget that it's "just a game"!
